Fireside Therapy & Counselling, a place to seek refuge.
Get trauma-informed, inclusive therapy in-person or from the comfort of your home.
Fireside Therapy & Counselling is a practice that centres around the human experience of sharing stories. I believe that connecting with each other in real, honest ways is essential to our survival, and that systemic oppressions often limit our ability to do so. I aim to create a space that is warm, safe and authentic; to seek refuge in times of need, and to celebrate in times of joy. Based in Meanjin (Brisbane), I support people seeking to understand themselves, make meaning in their lives, and to connect on what really matters to them.

About Brittany Archer
(she/they, her/them)
As a social worker and psychotherapist, what matters most to me is creating a space where you feel truly seen, safe, and respected. I want our time together to feel like somewhere you can show up exactly as you are — no masks, no pressure — and know that’s more than enough. I really believe that the connection between therapist and client is at the heart of any meaningful growth, which is why I bring a warm, down-to-earth, and often humour and playful energy into my sessions.
Often, it can feel like something’s inherently “wrong” with us, particularly in a world that prioritises capitalist and patriarchal ideals. We are often told that the way we cope with these struggles are “unhealthy”. But I see these responses — whether they show up in our thoughts, feelings, behaviours, or bodies — as deeply human. We all navigate the world with the resources we've picked up along the way, and I don't believe in labelling coping strategies as “good” or “bad”. Instead, I’m interested in whether the ways you’re coping feel aligned with who you want to be. That’s what therapy is about for me: understanding your values, building on your strengths, and finding new ways to respond that bring you closer to the life you want.
I work from the perspective that you are the expert in your own life. My approach is collaborative — we walk side by side through whatever you're facing, drawing on both your lived wisdom and the tools I bring from my training. These include a blend of Humanist, Post-Structuralist, and Social Constructivist approaches, whilst integrating Anti-Oppressive Practice and Feminist Frameworks into all of my work. In practice, that might look like drawing from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Narrative Therapy, Strengths-Based work, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Polyvagal Theory, trauma-informed and attachment based practice, and whatever else feels right for you. The hope is for us both to work out the way you see things, so you can apply that understanding to any problem you may face.
